Sturdy acclaimed to third term as Pemberton mayor

Jordan Sturdy will serve the Pemberton community as mayor for the next three years after being acclaimed to another term on Friday.
As of 4 p.m. Friday — when the nomination deadline closed — no other mayoral candidates had come forward seeking election, so Sturdy was acclaimed to his third term in the village's top job.
Pat MacKenzie was also acclaimed to the position of school board trustee, as no other candidates came forward.
While there will be no mayor's race in the Spud Valley, the roster of candidates for council swelled to seven as of the nomination deadline Friday. Four council spots are available.
Incumbent councillors Ted Craddock and Al LeBlanc are seeking re-election, while community members James Linklater, Mike Richman, Robert Szachury, Jessica Turner and Niki Vankerk have also thrown their hats into the ring.
