Pay parking starts in Whistler's Day Lots 4 and 5 in just a week's time, and local employees and residents can now purchase monthly, three-month and six-month passes at municipal hall.

Parking changes come into effect next Tuesday (Nov. 1), with $2 per hour rates in Lots 2, 3, 4 and 5. A full day of parking will cost $8, while a 10-pack of day tickets goes for $65.

According to a press release issued by the municipality, the six-month pass offers the "best value" for drivers who regularly need to park for extended hours in Whistler Village. At $180, the six-month pass is equivalent to about $1 per day, the release says.

Drivers who purchase monthly and multiple-month passes are only permitted to park in Lots 4 and 5.

Starting on Nov. 1, the longer-term passes can also be purchased by credit card from the pay machines in Lots 4 and 5.

The municipality is also offering a Gold Permit for $120 a month, or $1,320 for 12 months, that allows the holder to park in the Day Lots, on Main Street on in the conference centre lots.
