Getting to Paralympic Venues in Whistler

Your guide to getting to and from Whistler Creekside and the Whistler Paralympic Park

The 2010 Paralympic Winter Games are here. Whether you’re staying overnight or coming up for the day to ski, snowboard or see Paralympic events, here are a few tips on the best way to get around.

If you are coming from Vancouver: To reach the Whistler Paralympic Park (biathlon and cross-country skiing, 15 km south of Whistler Village) and Whistler Creekside (alpine skiing, 4 km south of Whistler Village) venues, you can drive to the Whistler Paralympic Park spectator parking lot at the base of Callaghan Valley Road.

From there, take the designated, free and fully accessible shuttles to the venues. Do not park along Callaghan Valley Road as strict towing policies will be enforced. You can also catch a bus from Vancouver to Whistler Village.

If you are staying or live in Whistler: Your Paralympic event ticket gets you on Whistler’s transit service for free on the day of the event until 4 a.m. the next morning. This is valid only on local Whistler buses.

Whistler Paralympic Park: Walk or take Whistler Transit to Day Lot 4 and hop on the Whistler Paralympic Park Express to the venue. Spectators with specific needs will be dropped off at the venue entrance and will board the accessible shuttle, which stops approximately 50-75 metres from the spectator plaza of the stadium. There is no BC Transit to this venue.

Whistler Creekside: Take Whistler Transit Bus #1, #2 or #10 from Gondola Transit Exchange in Whistler Village or from additional bus stops along Highway 99. To reach the first venue entrance, you’ll need to walk approximately 400 metres uphill from the transportation drop-off points. From there, to reach the viewing areas, you can choose to either walk another 800 metres uphill on a steep gravel pathway, or take the chairlift.

The accessible shuttle will pick up spectators with specific needs from the transportation drop-off points, and bring them to the accessible entrance located approximately 40 metres to the accessible seating area.
