Dear Whistler Businesses,     

 Integrating your 2010 operational needs with the 2010 Transportation Plan     The Whistler Chamber of Commerce is working closely with the Resort Municipality of Whistler (“RMOW”), VANOC and other Resort partners and its membership to ensure that Whistler businesses successfully realize the opportunities that the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games offer.     Further to the facilitated workshops that we have conducted with businesses over recent months, please find attached the following documents:

For more information, please go to 2010 Transportation.      As you review the above information and integrate it into your 2010 operational plans, we encourage you to:   

•  Identify your anticipated order volume and therefore frequency of deliveries throughout February 2010. Communicate the details to your suppliers and distributors so that they can incorporate your requirements into their logistics plans and provide you with an approximate delivery time between midnight and 6am (10pm- 6am in Whistler Creekside) for the month of February.
• Identify and capture operational efficiencies wherever possible, for example:
  • Minimize number of deliveries during February by adjusting product range, increasing order size and/or securing additional storage. 
  • Assign additional staff to receive deliveries more quickly.
  • Develop a contingency plan in conjunction with your suppliers and distributors to address the situation where deliveries are not completed by 6am.
  • Identify loading bays where congestion may occur during February, i.e. potential “hot spots”. Get together with neighboring businesses and your suppliers to work out a plan.
