Whistler Supporters and Friends:

Our Aboriginal Museum and Cultural Centre here in Whistler has recently launched an interesting new online gallery and gift shop.

The site shows many hand-carved and hand-crafted items created by local and regional First Nation artists. Many of these artists would not otherwise have access to a worldwide marketplace via an online gallery.

Two of the key mandates of the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre in Whistler are to help revive and renew local First Nation culture as well as provide meaningful and positive awareness. I believe this online gallery provides important help in both of those objectives while giving First Nations artists a sustainable business outlet for their art. Most of the handcrafted pieces for sale are on consignment with the artist receiving 75% of the purchase price.

We proudly present to you www.shop.slcc.ca. At this site you will also find biography information about the artists as well as interesting explanations of animal symbols found in local indigenous art.

We also welcome you to drop by in person to the gallery and gift shop here at the Cultural Centre in Whistler. Admission is free to the facility to access the gift shop and café.

SPECIAL DECEMBER OFFER – This is just for our friends and supporters … if you prefer to visit the gallery and gift shop in person and your purchase totals $25 or more, you can select a gift card or pocket spirit charm FREE. Please bring in this email to receive this offer. Offer valid for the month of December, 2011. We also have another December special: 20% off all moccasins and mukluks.

We also offer discounts on corporate gift orders; please contact our retail manager Kimberley Stanger to discuss our range of gifting options and our discount offers.

Please feel free to forward this email to any friends and family that you feel might be interested.

Thank you for your interest and support in our efforts to provide aboriginal cultural awareness to Whistler visitors and the community. We are working diligently to clearly demonstrate that our facility and tourism offering is a strong asset to Whistler and an important component of the future growth and diversification of our community.

 Best regards,

Casey
